A major international project has begun at the Gol Mod‑2 burial ground in Mongolia. Joint excavations are being carried out by scholars from the National Genghis Khan Museum and the Institute of History, Archaeology, and Ethnology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
One of the largest burial mounds in the necropolis (No. 54/M12) has been selected for the excavations. The research is sponsored by the Kino Studio (General Producer G.K.
